A Quilters’ Gathering
2015 Quilt Contest Theme
Quilt’s that make us think outside the box, stun us and make us ponder
Improv means to do something without preparation. Some of the most fantastic quilts have been made from mix-ups, mess-ups or unintentional techniques. Improv shall inspire quilters to create and enter a quilt that will be made from this very idea. From Classic to Modern, Traditional to Contemporary these same elements form Quilting and define a quilter. Quilters are designers and are always seeking that new viewpoint. Quilter’s Improvisational ideas shall be interpreted in the quilt.
In this contest we call for quilts that will make us think outside the box, stun us and make us ponder about the Quilter’s improvisational vision.
A Quilters’ Gathering™ Quilt Contest is a juried and judged contest open to individuals, partners, and groups. Quilts may be new or completed within the past 10 years. Selected entries will be exhibited to the public at A Quilters’ Gathering™ from November 5-8, 2015. Judging by quilt professionals is done prior to the exhibit with ribbons awarded as follows: One Best of Show Ribbon is awarded. First, Second, Third, and Honorable Mention Ribbons are awarded in the categories of Quilting Excellence, Overall Craftsmanship, Reflection of Theme, Color Compatibility, and Artistic Achievement in two divisions, Hand Work and Machine Work. Additionally, a series of Special Ribbons will be presented as designated. These are Founders' Award, Judges Award, Directors' Award, and Popular Vote Award. As prizes of cash or of products become available, it will be posted on the EQA web site.
Jury of Photo/Image entries is done by a highly qualified Selection Committee. Judging is done by duly certified judges who examine the actual quilts and determine winners in each category. All quilts and wall hangings in any style, size, design, and method of construction may be entered. All work submitted must have been executed totally by Entrant(s), i.e. individual, partners, or group, and must be available from October 20 to November 18, 2015.
